Cubismo
In 1909, Salto finds himself in Paris broke and destitude. A chance encounter with a fellow Spaniard leads to a job in an artist supply shop near Montmartre. Of the many painters that purchase the firms products, two are Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. During several visits to their studios to deliver, paints, brushes, and canvas, Salto has the opportunity to view their recent works that would later be called "cubist".
On a meager salary, but with access to painting materials from the shop, Salto explores this new technique first in the analytical vain, then synthetic using collage
